This file contains details of version numbers and compatibilities. The
version of Pleuk to which the following applies is 0100#00beta.
(See Makefile.defs for details of how Pleuk's version number is
defined and incremented).

All Pleuk-specific subsystems (i.e. all backbone and interface code,
all specializations that have no life other than within Pleuk) share a
common version number, viz. that given above. The following are
version numbers and compatibility for those bits of Pleuk which don't
fall into the categories above.

Subsystem and version number	Notes

SICStus Prolog 2.1#{6,7, 8} Limited testing with patch numbers
other than 6. #7 should be OK.
#8 required a minor fix (included).
GM Graphics Manager It seems that no version number is
assigned to different releases of GM.
				Check with archive sics.se,
				/archive/sicstus2.1
for latest version and SICStus patches.
The files ispgm.* there seem to
correspond to the most recent SICStus
				patch numbers

X Windows version X11R5

twm window manager or X11R5 compatible
olwm (Re: olwm; please check Known
Problems and Bugs in Overview part of
				 manual.)

Ghostscript 2.4 thru 2.6	Limited testing with higher revision
				numbers

Xterm 1.9 with one local mod	(Likely not to be supported in the
near future). Version number is a
guess based on rcs_ids in files.

Texinfo 1.22 (This includes info.el and the UNIX
				level command texindex)

Tex C Version 3.141 Very unlikely to be critical

dvips version 5.499

XInfo 1.01 Very unlikely to be critical

GNU Emacs 18.58.4 Unlikely to be critical

Make 1.21 Given by /usr/include/make/default.mk

HPSG-PL 1.2.2 HPSG System from SFU.

Other utilities
---------------

A number of other UNIX utilities are used by Pleuk, either during
installation or for the production of files. They are deemed to be
stable. These include:

cat(1)
cd(1)
chmod(1)
csh(1)
echo(1)
ln(1)
lpq(1)
lpr(1)
mknod(8)
mv(1)
rm(1)
sed(1)
setenv(1)
sh(1)
xpr(1)
zcat(1)

dvi2ps(1)
latex(1)

These last two were used in generating the Computer Modern Roman fonts;
see Pleuk/PS/Makefile. The resulting file does not need to be
regenerated when installing Pleuk.
