Dan O'Dowd, designer of the most secure OS in the world, talks about preventing Cyber Armageddon with software that never fails and can't be hacked.
Before founding Green Hills Software, Dan O'Dowd developed Mattel Electronic Football, the first successful handheld game. It was the must-have toy of Christmas 1977. Dan’s next product was a microprocessor that travelled to Mars. Dan then founded Green Hills Software in 1982 and developed the world’s best optimizing compiler; 34 years later it continues to beat all competitors. Steve jobs asked Dan to write Apple's C compiler for the Macintosh computer in 1984. It was used to develop all the Macintosh application software. In the early 1990s, Dan developed the first graphical debugger. He then designed and wrote the INTEGRITY operating system. INTEGRITY flies the Boeing 787, Airbus A380, F-35 fighter jet, and most other aircraft designed in the last 15 years, without ever failing. It also runs hundreds of Top Secret military communications systems, without ever being hacked.
