From: Chris Leithiser Subject: Amazon.Com censoring of "Piece of Blue Sky" Date: 18 May 1999 00:00:00 GMT Message-ID: <3741b748.0@news2.lightlink.com> X-NNTP-Posting-Host: 206.61.149.6 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Organization: Lightlink Internet Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Mime-Version: 1.0 Newsgroups: alt.religion.scientology I wrote again to Amazon.com regarding the removal of "A Piece of Blue Sky" from their catalog, pointing out that it had been two weeks since my initial inquiry, and I would like an explanation as to why the book was still not available through Amazon. Got the following response (name snipped) Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com. Amazon.com is a retailer and does not engage in censorship. Our goal is to provide as broad a selection of books, CD, and videos as possible to our customers. However, there are times when we must remove titles from our catalog for legal reasons. Typical examples of legal situations that may require us to remove items from our catalog include copyright violations and findings of libel or defamation. I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns--we'll be glad to hear from you. Best regards, Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/ Earth's Biggest Selection I find this a fair admission that they removed the book due to Co$ pressure. I will personally not purchase another book from Amazon, nor will I recommend them, until "A Piece of Blue Sky" is once again available through their catalog, and the full details of its removal made public.
