Starters Electronics Kit
Sketch

Description :
- Aim is to give kids an initial look at how electronics and computers work on the inside
How it works
- The kit looks like a electronics kit with the standard board with parts hooked onto it
- Main difference is that instead of using wires and having to attach lots of components like resistors and capacitors, this kit will abstract some of those things away using "Sub-units"
- Sub units are self contained packages that need just power to work.
- The kit will come with sub-units
- Power
- Processor
- Display
- Keypad
- speaker
- Mic
- radio
- Storage
- The child will then be able to configure the kit into simple electronics without the hassle of connecting parts like resistors and capacitors, which mean nothing to most kids.
So one configuration to make a calculator could be:
- Connect power to Processor, display and keyboard
- connect processor -> display
- connect keyboard -> processor
This will give the child an ability to understand basic concepts like how computers are broken into simpler parts like power supply, processor etc. Most people think electronics are black boxes and this will help them look inside that black box.
Cost:
Safety :
- Ages 6-12
- no chance of electrocution, will run on a 9V net.
- all wires can be like those in Lego Mindstorms kits, with a block like connector.
